A creative blur... | Atlanta boudoir photographer

Every few months I latch on to a new obsession when it comes to my work and how I photograph boudoir. I ALSO latch on to a new obsession in my personal life (here’s looking at you Sarah J. Maas universe), so at any given moment I’m obsessed with SOMETHING and it usually lasts about 3 months until another shiny object catches my attention.

My current obsession in photography: movement and blur

Blurry photos are typically not what clients have on their “I must have this shot” list. I remember when I used to shoot weddings and family portraits; delivering blurry photos was ill-advised 99% of the time (unless of course it was the ONLY image where little Suzy was smiling).

Blurry boudoir images are a little bit (or a LOT a bit) different for me. I think boudoir is so sensual, intimate, and personal that a slight blur makes the image look like it is frozen in time; an almost voyeuristic look into the intimate day-to-day of the subject. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still taking very SHARP and still images because I don’t want my clients to have to cross their eyes when viewing their boudoir images… but I love adding a few artistically blurred shots in the mix!

Special edition Boudoir sessions: NEON NIGHTS | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Each year we have 4 different weekends set aside for our Special Edition boudoir sessions. These sessions typically take place on location in a themed environment! It’s such a fun way to get really creative with your boudoir session and try something new.

Last weekend we welcomed 8 stunning women in a fully decorated neon studio!! Lumehouse studios is outfitted with neon signs, vintage televisions, arcade games, and even a phone booth! It was seriously the best place to shoot creative boudoir photos.

Huge thank you to Rachel Harris Artistry and Brenner Beauty for their hair/makeup skills this weekend!

Here are a few sneak peeks of our favorite (shareable) images!

Stay tuned for our announcement of the themes for our 2023 Special Edition Boudoir shoots! We typically make the announcement toward the end of August! Past clients will get a chance to book their slots first before we release our calendar to the public on Black Friday.
