A creative blur... | Atlanta boudoir photographer

Every few months I latch on to a new obsession when it comes to my work and how I photograph boudoir. I ALSO latch on to a new obsession in my personal life (here’s looking at you Sarah J. Maas universe), so at any given moment I’m obsessed with SOMETHING and it usually lasts about 3 months until another shiny object catches my attention.

My current obsession in photography: movement and blur

Blurry photos are typically not what clients have on their “I must have this shot” list. I remember when I used to shoot weddings and family portraits; delivering blurry photos was ill-advised 99% of the time (unless of course it was the ONLY image where little Suzy was smiling).

Blurry boudoir images are a little bit (or a LOT a bit) different for me. I think boudoir is so sensual, intimate, and personal that a slight blur makes the image look like it is frozen in time; an almost voyeuristic look into the intimate day-to-day of the subject. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still taking very SHARP and still images because I don’t want my clients to have to cross their eyes when viewing their boudoir images… but I love adding a few artistically blurred shots in the mix!

Here are a few of my favorites from a session done at our Marietta boudoir studio this year!
