Capturing Romance: Cozy Boudoir Sessions Inspired by Romance Novels and BookTok

When winter storms hit Atlanta, most people think about bundling up indoors with a warm drink and a good book (after they have ransacked the store shelves for milk and bread of course).
This past January, I had the unique pleasure of combining those comforts with the art of boudoir photography. Over two chilly weekends, we hosted creatively themed boudoir sessions inspired by romance books and the vibrant BookTok community. The result was a warm, cozy, and romantic experience that felt like stepping into a real-life romantasy novel. I had no way of planning the weather a YEAR ago when I planned this session theme, but the romance gods were looking down on us and knew exactly what we needed to capture the vibe.
This was our first set of four creative themes for 2026, and it sold out within a week!! More than ten incredible women, all passionate readers and lovers of a good book, joined us to celebrate their stories and their strength through intimate, book-inspired photoshoots.
Romance books have a special way of making readers feel connected to love, passion, and vulnerability. BookTok, the TikTok community dedicated to books, has amplified this connection by sharing heartfelt reviews, creative content, and fandoms around beloved stories. We wanted to capture that energy in a way that felt personal and empowering.
Our theme drew heavily from the idea of romantasy—a blend of romance and fantasy that transports readers to magical, emotional worlds. We also included nods to popular tropes like the "Heated Rivalry," a fan favorite on BookTok, where tension and attraction collide in unforgettable ways. These elements shaped the mood and styling of the sessions, creating a narrative that each participant could step into.
Atlanta’s winter storm brought freezing temperatures, but inside our studio, the vibe was the opposite: warm (or... hot depending on the outfit ;) ), inviting, and peaceful. We used soft lighting, plush blankets, and vintage book props to create a setting that felt like a private reading nook come to life.
Each participant arrived with their favorite romance books or BookTok-inspired outfits, which helped personalize their experience. The cold outside made the cozy indoors feel even more intimate. We encouraged everyone to relax, enjoy the moment, and let their love for stories shine through their poses and expressions.
I LOVED creating a kind of 'BookTok Cozy Corner' by recreating the cozy reading spots many BookTokers adore. Think: oversized sweaters, fuzzy socks, and stacks of romance books. It was all about comfort, joy, and the simple pleasure of getting lost in a story. It looked and felt hot despite the snowstorm outside!
Boudoir photography is ALWAYS about more than just beautiful images. It’s about confidence, self-love, and storytelling. When you add the element of romance books and BookTok, it becomes a way to celebrate the stories that shape us and the fantasies that inspire us.
For women who grew up reading romance novels or discovered the genre later in life, these sessions offer a chance to reconnect with those feelings of excitement, passion, and comfort. They remind us that romance is not just a story on the page but a part of who we are.
This sold-out event was just the beginning for 2026. We have three more creatively themed boudoir sessions planned, each designed to tap into different passions and aesthetics.
