"You AREN'T GROSS" .. a client's testimonial | Atlanta boudoir shoot

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

We all love birthdays (or we love the presents?), but when you are having a birthday BOUDOIR shoot it gives a new pleasure to birthdays. It’s been a theme lately, and I’m not mad about it.

This particular client scheduled her boudoir shoot for her birthday, for her own satisfaction, and mayyyybeeeee for her love (he def loved it). The day that we had together was full of laughter and a constant trust in me to do “whatever you think would work”. Her complete trust resulted in a gorgeous gallery, and the best birthday gift you could ever give yourself! Read on to hear about her experience (and see images from her shoot!)

1) How old are you... or if you prefer, who were you listening to at age 14 :)?

     I am 26!

2) What do you do for a living? Or... How do you typically spend your days?

I worked in marketing for a year and now am a freelance career coach working from home.

3) What prompted you to consider booking a boudoir session?

It was a birthday present to myself! I had done a session the year before and it was not as great as I wanted it to be. I decided to go all out this time.

4) Fears and hesitations are common when it comes to boudoir! What (if any) fears or hesitations did you have with regards to your session?

Of course, I was fearful about how my body would look but also my face. I don’t really photograph well, although I think I clean up well and am pretty enough! I really didn’t want to waste so much money and be dissatisfied with the products like I ended up experiencing before.

5) Thank you so much for choosing OWN! What was it about us that made you choose us for your boudoir session?

Well the quality of the product on social media was definitely the main factor. I also really appreciate the overall message of OWN.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

I was nervous but Sarah made me feel right at ease, like we were besties! She walked me through everything, including posing right down to my face.

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (primping, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

Well I loved the primping and the actual shoot for sure, but I’d have to say the reveal was awesome! Getting a sneak peek was also a nice treat!

8) How has the response been to your images?

Everybody that has seen them loves them. OBVIOUSLY I do too but it’s also super great to have your friends see you that way, too.

9) What is your advice for women interested in such a session (aside from "JUST DO IT!!!")?

Relax and have fun. Trust that your photographer isn’t going to make you look any more gross than you see yourself (especially because you AREN’T GROSS!!!)

10) What has changed about the way you see your OWN beauty?

I definitely consider myself more sexy these days.

Don't forget to check THIS site for your boudoir wardrobe | Atlanta Boudoir Photographer

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

It’s easy to get into old habits and routines when you’re shopping for clothing. Add lingerie into the mix and you’re almost guaranteed to stick to what makes you most comfortable.

One store that often gets overlooked is ETSY! Etsy is a HUGE haven for creative pieces for your boudoir shoot. Lingerie and costume stores are pretty limited, especially here in Atlanta. Etsy provides a world of options for any style of lingerie or wardrobe that you could think of for your boudoir shoot.

Feather wings? Check. Cage skirt? (see below). Sparkly crown? Sure. Huge tulle princess skirt? Of course. Body jewelry? LOADS OF IT.

So, check out Etsy for your boudoir session when traditional stores aren’t really feeding your fire. You won’t be disappointed.

Weekend availability is BACK (but extremely limited!) | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

That’s right, we’ve added a few more weekend dates for boudoir sessions to our calendar!!

We get it, schedules can be hard! They are unpredictable and not everyone gets the option of working from home during the week. Weekends are where you can finally do what YOU want to do (which could be binging Netflix or staring at a blank wall while you eat Cheetos… no judgment). If you’ve been really wanting to book a boudoir session, but your weekly schedule just wouldn’t allow it then the weekend is perfect for you!!

There are a limited number of weekend dates left for the year. These are perfect for our bridal boudoir and Base session options. We’ll spend a couple of hours together and then you can join your friends for brunch. If you’re a bride then the weekend sessions are a GREAT option to use your hair/makeup trial for your wedding as your hair/makeup for your boudoir session! Plus, it’s obviously a great gift.

Interested in seeing our availability, or ready to go ahead and snag one of our dates? Click here to see our availability calendar!

Let's talk about BLACK | Atlanta Boudoir Photography

Posted on by sarahwitherington@gmail.com

It’s easy, it’s slimming, it goes with everything, it makes up 90% of your closet.

BLACK.

You know it’s true. No matter how much you want to branch out from those perfect black pieces of clothing every time you see a piece of clothing that looks like it is even THINKING of not being black you look at it and then retreat into your wardrobe hole like a groundhog afraid of it’s shadow (or really like US afraid to come out of the dressing room).

I’ve been there, I AM there, I am preaching to the choir. Because I know that it’s so easy to fall into the warm snuggly arms of a black wardrobe I knew that I needed to do some research on a few color options that could be almost as comfortable as black. Don’t worry, I’m not going to force you (or myself) to jump feet-first into hot pink and bright cerulean blue. Here are my suggestions for branching out of the black hole (see what I did there?):

1) GREY!!!

You should have seen this coming. Grey is just black that has reached puberty and is trying out a new look, but it doesn’t forget it’s roots. Grey is exploring itself. Grey is fantastic and open to new ideas. You have light grey, dark grey, yellow-ish grey, pink-is grey. Grey has so much versatility but it’s still so close to black that it is practical for everyday viewing and wearing. Grey is the first step in breaking up the monotony of black.

2) Navy blue

Navy Blue is grey’s best friend. They like all of the same things, they look good with all of the same accessories (except sometimes navy blue doesn’t get along with black, it just depends on how light navy is feeling), and they have so many different versions of themselves to go with anything. Navy is a gorgeous color to be photographed in and is a flattering color on everybody. This is because most people do not have a blue-ish undertone in their skin and so navy doesn’t bring out any unwanted skin issues or make someone appear paler than they actually are.

3) Hunter and Emerald green

Think of these greens as fraternal twins. They are born from the same beautiful mixture, but they look and behave pretty differently. In our case, though, they behave very similarly with regards to wardrobe. They flatter, they surprise, they evoke a sense of richness… these greens make you want to touch the clothing that they cover, which is especially great for your boudoir session. Wink wink ;)

And there you have it, a solid few colors to break up the black void. Again, I am preaching to myself, here. Currently I’m wearing a bright yellow shirt and I’m definitely uncomfortable but I’ve gotten SO many compliments on it… so I know that I made the right decision. There is absolutely nothing wrong with black, in fact a LOT of wardrobe pieces look better when they are black, but let’s not make your entire boudoir session an exhibition on the color black. Let’s show YOU off in the best way (which might mean navy or ::gasp:: red).

**Some additional favorite options of ours: deep purples and deep reds

See you soon!!!
