Client interview! Find out the TRUE gift of a boudoir session.

1) How old are you?

29

2) What do you do for a living?

 Executive search consultant

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

I wanted to give my husband a gift for Christmas that was totally unexpected and out of the box for me.  My family laughs that I'm kind of a "prude" so I wanted to show a side of myself that was sexy, sensual and powerful - for both my husband and myself.

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

DUH, my thighs mostly!  I was so scared that I wouldn't like the person in the photos.  I was scared that my hair wouldn't look good or that my pudge would show.  I was mostly scared that the photos would highlight everything that I didn't like about my body.

5) Why did you choose OWN?

I loved the images from OWN.  I felt like whoever was behind those images (which I found to be the amazing Sarah!) could make women of any age, color, shape or size look beautiful.  I also loved the mysterious quality the images took on.  I found that to be very sexy.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

It was comfortable!  I felt good about myself.  I felt relaxed and excited.  I thought it was going to be so awkward being in front of the camera with almost nothing on, but Sarah made me feel so good about the way I looked that I just let her direct me.  It also helped that she should occasionally show me the shots in her camera to prove that I didn't look as crazy as I felt!

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

My favorite part was seeking the sneak peak of three images that Sarah emailed me shortly after my shoot.  I was refreshing my email every few minutes in anticipation of seeing how things turned out!  Once they finally came in, I was blown away.  I seriously couldn't believe that was me - and I looked HOT!  After that I knew the rest of the images were going to be amazing as well and I could relax knowing that my fears of hating all of the images was just something in my own insecurities.

8) How has the response been to your images?

My husband couldn't believe that I did this for him.  He was speechless for a long time!  I've shared the album I purchased for him to a few others and they are actually proud of me for doing something like this that captures a different side of me, which isn't a reaction I was expecting.  Everyone has said that it's such a special gift to give myself as years from now, when babies and age have changed me, I will have these to look back on and remember this time in my life.

9) Any advice for women interested in such a session?

Stop playing into the fears in your own head and DO IT!  Celebrate you - at this very moment - and do it!

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

This session, these images, are more than just having a day to play adult dress up.  I am able to look at these images and see myself how I've never seen myself before, and that's the true gift.  Yes, I still see some areas on my body that I don't "love," but I also see that in the big picture, it doesn't matter.  During this session, mostly because Sarah is so encouraging, I was able to be confident about who I am right now and I think that's what really shows.
