Client interview: Don't doubt - Just DO.

1) How old are you?

 I am 45 yrs old.

2) What do you do for a living?

I am a medical secretary but have been a nanny for the last 8-9 years.

3) What/who made you decide to book a boudoir session?

I looked into the boudoir photo shoot to make a gift for my husband for either his birthday or our anniversary.  When his job took him out of town I wanted him to have something beautiful from me. It was at this time I realized that I didn't have any really nice/pretty pictures to even put into an album for him. I think I actually got the idea first from Pinterest!

4) Did you have any obstacles or fears about boudoir?

I had MANY fears. I am 45 so my first though was, "damn, I should have done this in my 30's when I weighed 15 pounds less and was 15 years younger!".  My biggest fear was that I wouldn't be happy with the results - none of the pictures would turn out. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to keep it a surprise, which ultimately I didn't but it turned out to be a lot of fun for my husband and I to discuss, plan for and be excited about the shoot.

5) Why did you choose OWN?

I contacted  OWN because of the website. And ultimately chose OWN after our correspondence. The photos on the website depict real women of all ages and sizes - I thought they were BEAUTIFUL. You were a very relatable & likable person and made me feel very comfortable. It put me a little more at ease to have your tips and suggestions.

6) How was the actual session different from what you expected (if at all)?

The actual shoot was one of the most amazing days of my life! I would imagine its not often that a mother of four (step mom to two and mom of two)and grandmother of two gets to feel like a supermodel. As a nanny my makeup consists of concealer and I pretty much wear khaki and polo shirts 4 days a week. It was amazing to have my hair and makeup done and to look and feel glamorous.  When I left the shoot I felt confident and elated that I had done it! It justmade me want every woman to have that experience. It was something I started out to do for my spouse and it became the greatest gift I ever gave myself.

7) What was your favorite part of the entire experience? (priming, the shoot, seeing images, giving the images..etc)

Favorite part? It's hard to pick one! I think it's a tie between seeing the images and having my hair and make-up done professionally. I have never been good with make up...my mother never wore any so I never really learned. There is actually something called a "lip brush" who knew?! I always thought if I won the lottery I would have a chef or a masseuse but now I know it would be a makeup artist. It was also my first time wearing false eyelashes. I don't get out much lol.

8) How has the response been to your images?

Very positive!  I think Kelly did a little jump and dance when she saw them :)

9) Any advice for women interested in such a session?

Do it! Don't be worried you're not tan enough, thin enough, young enough. Face your fears - you will be so happy you did.

10) Did anything change about the way you see your own beauty as a result of this session?

I feel far more beautiful than I ever have. Thank you so much. It was great to meet you and have this experience. I am grateful that I chose you and OWN.  I think your ability to make me feel at ease, your direction and extremely likable personality made it the best day!
